Serial # and Spanish language version

I am currently running a trial version of 2007 Home and Student (English).
In a few days, it will expire. Since I have a more time than money right
now, I bought the Spanish language version of Home and Student 2007
ultra-cheap, with the idea that I can always d/l the English language pack
for an additional 25 bucks after it is installed. I do want to retain all my
own tweaks and configurations, even though it looks like I'll have to
uninstall the English 2007 first, and then install the 2007 spanish language
version. Is there a way to uninstall 2007 without removing my own
profile/user tweaks?

I already have 3 or 4 locations listed to back up (my QAT, autocorrect
files, etc.), but if I could uninstall the English 2007 without having to
remove these files to begin with, it would save me some time.

Recommendations?

My seat-of-the-pants guess is that uninstalling will not remove these files
(uninstalling ordinarily does not).
