sent mail not being received

I compose a message in outlook to one or more addresses
from my "contacts" file. Click send it appears briefly in
my "outbox" and then is stored in my "sent folder",
however it is never received at the destination. Outlook
is working fine for incoming mail. I use SBC DSL and
also have email with Juno which works fine.Suggestions
will be greatly appreciated.
