"Sent Items" not working.

Outlook 2000 - user cannot save sent emails to the "Sent Items" mailbox.

If the user changes the location for saving a sent email to another folder,
it works, suggesting there is something wrong with the "Sent Items" folder
itself.

However, there seeems to be no way of permanently changing the location for
copies of sent messges - after closing the message pane the setting reverts
to "Sent Items"

The system will not allow the user to delete or rename the "Sent items"
folder, either.

Any suggestions for a way out of this impasse, short of nuking the
mailbox.pst?
 
Is there any filter set on the Sent Items folder?
Try resetting the view for that folder.
