Sending Rule Question

I run Outlook 2003 from Exchange. I created a rule that states the following:

Apply this rule after I send the message
assigned to MILL category
move a copy to the Mill Emails folder

The "MILL" category is assigned to all our vendors contacts (we have close
to 300). The "Mill Emails" folder is located in a Public Folder.
Unfortunately, the rule is not working. It only works if I have the
following:

Apply this rule after I send the message
with teenzbutler in the recipient's address
move a copy to the Mill Emails folder

Well, this can be very extensive, considering we have over 300
mills/vendors. Does anyone have any suggestion?

P.S. Our reason behind this is to keep track of ALL correspondence being
sent to the mills by any given person in the company.

I think you may be stuck on this important factor: is the message
categorised or the recipient (Contact) categorised????

when you send a message to a contact with a category assigned, outlook does
not assign that category to the message, which is what the rule is looking
for.

Thanks for your reply. The recipient contact is categoried. I also tried
categorizing the message, but that did not work either.

Yes. You can put a line in the rule that says if the Contact is in a
specific Contacts Folder then do ......

So make a new Contacts folder, drag the key people into it. Then edit your
Rule.

Lots of people get stuck trying to use the Category criteria in rules but
it does not do what you want. It says if the EMAIL is in the Category FFFFF
then do ..... That is not the case with what you described.

Thanks, but I tried that, however, that option is available when you receive
(Sender is in specific Address Book) and not when you send. Do I need to do
this manually? If so, could you please guide me on where to go.

try "sent to specific people or distribution list" although with 300 names
it will take a while to make the rule!!

Thanks. That's how I initially started the rule, then I realized how long it
would be. That's why I tried the category, but that doesn't work. Thanks
for you help.
