Sending problems with Windows Mail

Email messages have been stuck in my Outbox since Thursday morning. When I
try to send/receive messages, new emails come to my inbox but no messages
ever get sent.
I've tried moving them to drafts, then reopening them and sending, but
nothing has been successful.
Ideas? It appears others may be having similar problems?

Download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version
of Vista or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version first.
Certain common antivirus programs, such as most of those from
Norton or McAfee, tend to cause stuck messages and other problems
in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately, so if you have such
a program, remember where to find the hotfix and hope it will install
again if you need it again. A recent version of the Trend antivirus
also causes problems in Windows Mail.

Thank you so much, Robert. I downloaded the 32-bit hotfix, installed it, and
it unblocked the Outbox. I truly appreciate your help. I am running Symantac
Endpoint so I don't know what the cause was, but the fix worked.

You're welcome.

Symantec is the same company that puts out the Norton line of antivirus
programs, so it's hard to guess if they copied the part of the Norton line
of antivirus programs that causes the problems to any that don't have
the Norton name.

Will all of them move to the Drafts folder or delete? If any one refuses to
do
either, it will block all outgoing messages after it that go to the same
account.

If you get any error messages when trying to send and receive, right click
on them and copy the entire error messages to your next message.

What if any antivirus programs do you have? Some of them cause stuck
messages and assorted other problems in Windows Mail, although seldom
immediately.
