I've been trying to send an email to multiple contacts using Windows Mail on
Vista. For some reason it only allows me to send it to about 10 contacts. Any
ideas/help would be gratefully received.

This limit is more likely one imposed by your ISP.
Many ISP's limit the number of bulk mail members as part of their "prevent spam" policy.
Have you checked with them?

How many is " multiple contacts " ?
If it is not extraordinary large number, I would create a group with a name,
enter all the names into the group.
That done, open Windows Mail, click Create Mail, enter the group name on to
the TO column. That's it.
To create a group :
Open Windows Mail > Tools bar, click Contact > New Contact Group > ( the
rest is self-explanatory ).

This has nothing to do with Windows Mail (or any other email client), it's
an anti-spam restriction imposed by your mail provider, who may or may not
be your ISP.

You should contact your mail provider and find out from them what their
rules are, and how you might be exempted. I have to use a paid-for 3rd
party mail provider who allows me to send mails to larger groups.

After you've set that up, you need to be aware that your mails can then
trigger spam filters *at the receiving end*, and you will only know when the
recipients start complaining that they didn't get the mail. It's easy to
get on blacklists, and it can be difficult to get off again.
