Sending Error

I am using outlook 2000 as my default email. I don't
have a problem receiving but I get the following message
when I try to send an email:

"this message could not be sent because it rejected you
as the sender. Server response 553 authentication is
required to send mail as (my email address)
(account:'incoming.verizon.net', SMTP server:'outgoing.
verizon.net', error number 0x800cc78).

Can anyone help me with this problem. Any assistance
will be appreciated.
