Josh

Hello, I have had this issue for a year now and its time to get it fixed.
windows mail used to send using my current settings as far as pop3 is
conerned. Not completely sure exactley when issue arose due to the fact that
i send 20 emails a year through this machine. I am positive that my pop and
smtp settings are 100% correct. I have 2 accounts on pop and they both fail
to send but receive is no issue. here is the error I get

The host 'smtp.dnvr.qwest.net' could not be found. Please verify that you
have entered the server name correctly.
Subject 'jhgf', Account: 'pop.dnvr.qwest.net', Server:
'smtp.dnvr.qwest.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

I recently tried to put outlook on as i know it works with no isseus on the
xp platform, after install it cannot pull address book so it wont send.

Can someone tell me which pop email accounts work with windows mail so i can
get a account to send email, or fix this issue

Thanks

Where did you get that 'smtp.dnvr.qwest.net' server name from?
There is no server with that name.
Check with Qwest for the correct mail server name.

Most, if not all, pop email accounts work with Windows Mail. Before you
spend any money on another one, try a few things to fix your problem.

Start Windows Mail, click on the Outbox, then move any messages you find
there to the Drafts folder or delete them. If any refuse to do either,
download
and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version
of Vista or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version first.
The Vista SP1 update includes this hotfix and more, but takes hours
longer to install.

Stuck messages and an assortment of other problems in Windows
Mail are often due to interference from antivirus programs. What if
any antivirus programs do you have, and have you ever had a Norton
or McAfee antivirus program on that computer, even a trial version?
Many new computers come with a trial version of some antivirus
program already installed.

Also, check your settings against this:

http://www.qwest.com/internethelp/opsystems/windows/

If you're using a broadband connection, ignore the parts about modems.

If you can't read .pdf files, download and install Adobe Reader:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

Unless you want more problems with Windows Mail, don't install
the Google Toolbar program. Web sites that let you do a Google
search are not a problem, though.

You may or may not need the following:

I already gave you the resolution some 10 hours ago.

There is no server named smtp.dnvr.qwest.net. Get the correct server name from Qwest.

That information you supplied below seems to say that both the
incoming and outgoing mail servers are named "pop.dnvr.qwest.net".
All I can tell you for sure is that smtp.dnvr.qwest.net does not resolve
in the sophisticated Internet troubleshooting tools I have.

Can you post the error message you get when using pop.dnvr.qwest.net for the
SMTP server name? It should make a difference.
