Strangely enough, I see this written about email scanning by an Anti-virus
should be disabled, given as advice.
You are the 1st to say it MUST be disabled..
And, I disagree.

I don't have probs with it, and neither do my customers.
And this is using a variety of Anti-viruses over many years.
We all have our opinions, and experiences, Gary.

Will you take the word of the inventor of the antivirus email scanning concept?
Symantec (Norton) admits that it is unnecessary and redundant:

or http://tinyurl.com/bhsva

Read the paragraph "Is my computer still protected against viruses if I disable Email Scanning?"

I have some 23 years experience assisting customers with email problems,
and I can't count the number of times that the problem magically disappeared
when the email scanning was turned off and/or the antivirus uninstalled.
Historically, Norton and McAfee have been the worst offenders.

Gary,

I have Norton and I disabled the the email outgoing scanning and I still was
unable to send email with attached? I just checked the size of the attacment
and it said it was 19MB! Could this be the problem that it's too large? It
was only one page of words that I scanned into my computer that I needed to
send to someone. Should I be scanning and saving as a different file? It is
now saved as a TIFF image.

David

The file size may well be a problem since many mail servers have a size limit
of 10-15MB per message. Large files should be uploaded to a free file hosting
website, such as http://tinypic.com. Then you give the recipient the URL link,
and they download it from there.
