Hi,

I am using OL2000 and I have a problem sending emails. It just take
too long to send an email. And that is with all accounts I have. Th
emails I am sending are very small, but it still takes up to 5 minutes
How can I solve this nasty problem?

Thanks for help

hi Teejay,

Are you in Corporate Workgroup or internet Mail Only Mode?you can ge
this information in the help menu of outlook.

Also did you try the "outlook /safe" command(without the quotes)?(Yo
need to type this command in the run line,Outlook should be closed whe
you use this command you need to go to start>run and then type tha
command.Outlook will open without any add-inns,toolbar customization
and view changes)

Do tell me if mails are sent faster using that command

Thanks for your reply.

I checked the topic you wrote about. OL is running Internet Mail Only
Mode.

And I tried starting OL in "safe" mode. This time, it works like it
should be. That's fine so far. But how can I fix this problem in
"normal" mode?

You are welcome Teejay,

Well if outlook worked in the safe mode then renaming the files,

Extend.dat (responsible for outlook extensions)
outcmd.dat (Resposible for tool bar customizations)
views.dat (customized views)
frmcache.dat (This will clear the forms cache)

Rename these files to a .old extension. You need to do a search for
these file(they may be hidden files).ALsoif you do not find any one of
them then its okay. But if you do then do rename them.

do the renaming one by one to determine which one of these files is
corrupted(Since any of these DAT files could be causing the issue)

When you open Outlook after the renaming outlook will open with a new
copy of the file.

One of my users' Outlook was working fine except for a 40 second delay
after sending any email. The emails would go through, but the delay
was annoying.

I tried the safe mode and it worked fine, and I tried renaming the .dat
files, but the problem persisted. Eventually I found out the problem
was his signature, he had an animated .gif of an American flag waving
which was tripping up Outlook. We took out the .gif and the emails
sent off just fine.
