Ok help please,
I have set up windows mail for my yahoo account and it was working fine
sending and receiving mail and yet now everytime i try to send mail a box
pops up asking me to confirm my password and username, I can still receive
emails tho.

This is getting most annoying.

Thanks in advance.

Are you using SSL on incoming/outgoing servers? Though the POP settings
page advise using SSL I too was having problems receiving mail. I changed
the ports to non-SSL and keep the outgoing server box requires
authentication checked and I have had success receiving/sending mail.

Next time click Cancel. It should then display an error message.
Right-click on that, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
Also, which antivirus are you running?

Pressing Cancel doesn't lead to an error message, it just says an error
has occurred !!

I am not using SSL ports and have the authentication switched on for
outgoing email.

I am using Norton & AVG anti-virus

Any suggestions ?

Having more than one antivirus program installed at the same time
often leads to various problems, and not just in Windows Mail.
Most versions of the Norton antivirus program tend to cause
assorted problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately,
so I suggest that you pick it as the one to uninstall. Then run this
cleanup program to take care of what the uninstall left behind:

You may even have to remove your email account under Windows
Mail, then restart Windows Mail and add the account again.

If you used the standard install for AVG, it's a good idea to
uninstall it, then do a custom install where you tell it to leave out
the part that scans email.

If that doesn't solve your problem, but you now get one or more
error messages when you try to send mail, click on them and copy
them to your next message. Also, if the outgoing messages are
staying in the Outbox instead of going on to the outgoing mail
server, click on the Outbox and try to move all these messages
to the Drafts folder or delete them. If you find any that refuse to
do either, download and install this hotfix, with Windows Mail not
running:

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other folders. If you don't know whether you have a 32-bit version
of Windows or a 64-bit version, try the hotfix for the 32-bit version
first.

Note that most versions of the McAfee antivirus software and a recent
version of the Trend antivirus software also cause assorted problems
in Windows Mail, so don't consider them as replacements.

If you want more security, you can install more than one antispyware
program. The two I've been using for months are :
