sending attachments

Hi,
I am a new windows xp user. I assumed that microsoft
word processor, which is incuded in ms works would send my
documents as attachments the same way my windows 98 did.
However, these documents that I send cannot be opened by
others and when they are opened they look like the code
that appears as it does in word pad. Can anyone help me<
Do I need to buy new software?? I am lost! Please help if
possible! Thanks,
Robyn

Robyn;
Someone may need to buy new software and it has nothing to do with
Windows XP or Windows 98.
You both need to be using the same word processor.

Make sure you save your files in a common format, like .rtf or .txt and the
other person should be able to open them.

Notepad is a universal as it saves in .txt format. You can use your favorite
word processor, then copy into wordpad. And the recipient can copy/paste its
contents into their preferred word processor.
