Sending Attachments Crashes Outlook 2003

I have a problem that's a real doozy and I'll be impressed to no end if any
of you can fix it.
I spent 3 hours on the phone with Microsoft yesterday, and even they're
stumped.

(And you can safely assume that I tried every trick I could think of before
calling them.)

The problem is simple.

Outlook 2003 crashes whenever I try to send an email with an attachment.

I could go into endless detail if needed, but I'll try to give the most
pertinent facts here as they come to mind. Please feel free to ask as many
questions as you like.

Outlook 2003 runs perfectly except for this one problem. I can also receive
attachments just fine.

I'm running WinXP Pro SP2, and I have all the latest Outlook updates
installed.

To create the problem, I simply create a new email, add an address, subject,
body and attachment and hit send.

Upon hitting send Outlook gives me an error that it now needs to close, with
the option to restart.

The only problem now is as soon as I restart, Outlook once again immediately
tries to send the email and recrashes itself again.

The solution of course, is to go offline, load Outlook, cancel send/receive,
remove the email from the outbox and then go online again.

It's ridiculous.

And it gets worse.

After getting off the phone with Microsoft yesterday I decided to revert
back to Outlook Express.

For Outlook Express to import my emails however, it needs to use outlook to
handle the .pst file.

The import goes smoothly until it hits the first email with an attachment I
have stored in my inbox, at which point OE crashes.

If you have any idea on how to fix this please reply.

And thank you!

Fixed.

Turns out the bug had been pointing to the inetcomm.dll file.

I manually replaced the inetcomm.dll file, by taking it from another
computer I have and putting it on this one.

I then rebooted.

After rebooting Outlook 2003 wouldn't start at all, now claimnig a problem
with the msmapi32.dll file.

Outlook then tried to restart itself in safe mode and couldn't.

It then asked if it could perform a detect and repair (I had done this
before with no success, but I went ahead and let Outlook go through with
it.)

Once it was done with the detect and repair, Outlook began working fine.

I was also able to import all of my messages, attachments and all in Outlook
Express.

So there you go.

Anyone have any thoughts as to why this worked?
