"sending 1 of 1"

I am using Outlook 2003 on Windows XP. Every so often, at the bottom right
hand corner on the status bar, I see the message "sending 1 of 1" even if I
haven't sent out any messages. And when I'm sending out 1 message, it says
"sending 1 of 2". Seems like it's automatically sending out an extra
message. Can anyone shed light on this, please & thank you?

You probably received a message that requested a read-receipt, and Outlook
is sending a receipt.
