Send won't send

I have a weird problem with Send. I've seen a couple of threads where
people have the same problem, but I haven't seen a solution.

In Outlook 2000 on WinXP Home, I compose a New message and click Send.
The message goes into the Outbox not italicized and not sent. I click
Send/Receive. Message is still not sent. I click on the message in
the Outbox, it pops up, I click Send, Now it goes into the Outbox and
is italicized. I click Send/receive and it goes.

This is an unacceptable way to send mesages. Is there a fix?

Thanks,

What do you have set under Email accounts->send/receive settings? Is send
immediately checked?

Milly,

Send immediately is not checked. I would think that I could click
send in the compose window and that would put the message in the
outbox, and then when I click on send/receive, it would be sent. But
it doesn't work that way. I have to open the message in the outbox
and click send again and then click send/receive. Is this the way it
was designed?

I am having almost the exact same problem. I also have a
similar configuration with XP Home and Outlook 2000. The
problem seems to be sporadic, but getting worse. For me,
opening the mail and clicking send does not generally
solve the problem.

And yes, I have "send immediately" checked.

If I write/respond/forward several notes in a few
minutes, some will be in italics and will send, while
others will sit there ignored (in regular text, not
italics).

I hope there is a solution, because this is a royal
pain.....

Fortunately, Outlook is not on my computer, it's on someone else's.
I love my Eudora!

I am having a similar problem sending messages from Outlook. After a
recent HD failure I re-built my system on the new drive (Win2K with
SP4, Office 2000 with SP3, etc. + ). Since then I have had an
intermittent problem in that not all messages get sent from the outbox.
Most often it is a reply that fails, but new messages can fail as well.
Usually I can eventually get around the problem by re-creating the
message and re-sending it. Sometimes I must do this several times. What
a pain!

A complicating factor may be that I have 3 different accounts that all
send and receive simultaneously. The settings for these all appear to
be correct and the send failure does not appear to be associated with
any 1 account.

I have not been able to find any info on this issue on the web. Any
help will be appreciated.

You need to post your mail support mode, the error message, the mail account
types and your connection type.

Also, are any of your multiple accounts just different mailboxes with the
same ISP? It may be that your ISP only allows a limited number of
connections at a time from one computer.

Same problem as listed above, Can compose a message using Outlook XP
and the message will sit in the Outbox until I open it there and send
it after opening it. Then the message will send. I'm only using one
email account, send immed is checked, called Microsoft and they
recommend reloading. Don't know if that helps anyone or not.
