Send to Word feature - Bloating PPT size

Hari Prasadh

Hi,

I have a PPT (2002, Win XP) of size 1.9 MB having 38 slides, consisting of
MS Graph applets / Excel OLE's (mainly charts) etc.

I exported this to word using File - Send to feature and after doing that it
bloated to 196 MB. is that normal?

Please guide me.

Thanks a lot,
Hari

It'll help if you break the links in Word after creating the file (assuming you
no longer need the data linked from PPT to Word).

If you need to maintain the links, start PowerPoint before opening the Word
file when you go to edit it. Word needs to fire up PPT to update the links
each time. If PPT is already running, it uses it and leaves it running.
Otherwise, it starts PPT, updates, quits PPT. Once for each slide in the Word
file. MUCH MUCH slower.
