Send /Receive when opening Outlook

This posting is like several others I researched on this topic. My problem
is that I would like to have Outlook (2003) execute a Send/Receive when I
open it. I have tried the often recommended: Tools menu > Options > Mail
Setup tab > Send/Receive button > "Schedule an automatic send/receive every
___ minutes" and I have also checked the "Send Immediately when connected"
box, but like so many others in this discussion group have said, this doesn't
work in my case. Does anyone have a sure fire way of forcing a Send/Recieve
when opening Outlook. I am working on a Dell computer, with Outlook 2003 and
a wireless internet connection. Thanks

Is your wireless connection established when you open OL?
Do you have any anti virus intergrated with Outlook?
Does an immediate manual send/receive function?
Does the every xx minutes kick in, if the on opening doesnt?
Personnally I've never had a problem provided the two setting you mention
are set.
