send/receive not functioning with POP3 from Outlook2003

I used to send and receive mail by POP3 with Gmail until 2 days ago. It was
functiong properly, but now I cannot do that and I get different kind of
error messages, for example "SSL is no more functioning but it worked in the
past, call ISP" or "web server does'nt accept SSL" even if it is Gmail?! etc.
etc.
I didn't exceed any file limit, Personal folder is about 198 Mb.
My e-mail accounts are properly configured and I got insane verifying this.
Can you help me please, people from Microsoft? Outlook and POP3 are so
helpful to me! (I use Win XP and Office 2003 with Business Manager installed;
I installed some add-ins too, like back-up utility and sms sender from
Outlook, but 2 weeks before it started not to send and receive via POP3.)

I'd say gmail is having a problem.
