send/receive in different networks

Hi folks,
How can I select accounts to send/receive based on the connected networks?
I know how to configure Send/Receive groups but that is too slow.

Here is the problem. I run outlook 2003 on a laptop. I use my laptop at work
and at home. At work I have an exchange account and at home I have a POP3
account.
At work I can't use my POP3 account and at home I can't use my exchange
account.
I waste a lot of time waiting for each to timeout everytime I hit
Send/Receive.

I would like to selectively Send/Receive the right account according to
which network I'm connected to. It would be great if Outlook can detect which
network I'm connected to. But I'm willing to settle for clicking on a
different button to Send/Receive either account.

I just don't want to go enabling/disabling my Send/Receive groups every day
because that is even slower than waiting for the timeout. Because I keep
forgetting to enable/disable the right account before I hit the Send/Receive
button.

Basically this is what I want to do:-
at work) Send/Receive exchange account. Skip POP3 account
at home) Send/Receive POP3 account. Skip exchange account
It'd be best if I can configure Outlook to detect which network I'm
connected to.
But I wouldn't mind if I have to hit F9 at work and F8(for example) at home.

thanks in advance

setup two different profiles
one for home configured with pop account
one for work configured with exchange account

How does outlook know which "profile" to use automatically?
Can I configure a button to select each profile? How to do that?

Oh. Do you mean user profiles (Windows user accounts)?
I'd prefer not to login to my laptop differently when at home and work.
Then I'd have to setup and configure a whole lot of programs and stuff just
to make the two profile work the same. It's too much work to keep the two
profiles in sync just to have their outlook choose different accounts to use.

Thanks. Any other ideas?

When you create the second profile, enable the option to have Outlook prompt
you for which profile to use.

Brian,

How do you get outlook to prompt for the profile to use?
I must be stupid. I spent the last hour looking around in outlook's options.
I cannot find where I can make that setting.

Anyhow I'm not keen to create a new user profile just to get outlook to
switch email accounts to use. I'm no good with VBscripting but couldn't this
be done with some scripting?

alright, I'll give it a try tonight. Can't complain if I don't feel the pain
first.

open the mail applet in control panel and click "show profiles"
when you create the profile there is a checkbox that says "prompt for a
profile to be used"
when outlook starts it will ask what profile you want to use
no need for vbscripts
