Send/receive complete every minute

I am using Outlook 2003 on Windows XP SP2.

When it is opened, I am seeing "send/receive complete" pop up on the status
bar every 60 seconds or so. It disappears after a few seconds. Clicking on
it has no effect (no dialog box pops up). It seems to be independent of the
regular send/receive mail cycle. Deactivating auto send/receive has no
effect. I tried turning off auto send/receive (both on accounts
individually and as a group), changing the interval, etc. I have already
used Detect and Repair. All useless. I have 4 POP accounts plus hotmail.
Does anyone know why this is happening?

What do you have specified in Tools>Options>Mail
Setup>Send/Receive>Schedule an automatic send/receive every..." for both of
those settings?

I normally keep it at 10 minutes. As an experiment I tried unchecking it.
No effect. Then I tried setting it to 1 minute (I know that is ill-advised,
but as I said it was just an experiment). Outlook would legitimately check
for mail every minute. However it also would show "send/receive complete"
once a minute as well, in between mail checks. I set it back to 10 minutes.
It still happens.

I have determined that this has something to do with my Hotmail account
through "Outlook Connector". Deleting this account stops the behavior.
Restoring it brings the behavior back. Interestingly enough, even if there
is mail in my Hotmail inbox, it will not be sent until the regular
send/receive at 10 minute intervals or when requested manually. So the
"send/receive complete" that shows up at 60 second intervals has nothing to
do with actually receiving mail.

I do not have any folders associated with this account other than the ones
that Hotmail puts there automatically.
