ok, im using xp on my laptop with outlook express and got a new desktop which
im trying to set up my wifes email on.
now ive copied everything off my laptop for the email account of hers but
when i try send/recieve all, it askd to comfirm my user name and password.
now ive done this loads of times but it wont allow me to recieve mail.
trried just sending a test mail to my email on my laptop and that worked
fine, replied to the test but again, when i try recieving it wont let me past
the confirm user and password box!!!
using a pop3.btconnect account for incoming and stmp for outgoing exactly
the same as my laptop, but still getting nowhere.
anybody any idea's?
ive contacted my isp to confirm ive got the correct user name and password,
which i have so they say they cant help me anymore and said it may be a
compatability prob with vista,im thinking this is a disguised response for 'i
havnt a clue mate your on your own'.
hope someone can shed some light on this?
cheers in advance.

stmp? Is that a typo?

What have you actually used for server names?

See if this helps:

1. Go to the Vista start menu and type cmd
2. The search results will display a program titled cmd
3. Right-click on the link and select "Run as administrator"
4. type "netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled" without
the quotatioin marks
5. Test your POP account and see if you can now download your mail.
6. If nothing changes, reenable the autotuning feature by typing
"netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=normal"

sorry, yes a typo, the smtp im using is mail.btconnect.com and pop3 is
pop3.btconnect.com.
its my works email (btconnect not btinternet) so is it asking for my works
user name and password with it being the primary account? even though my
wife has a seperate user and pass for her email account?
