Send on Behalf not working? HELP!

B

Bill

Hi,

I have set-up send on behalf for a few users on the Exchange server (5.5).
When testing the account, only one of the 3 users set up for send on behalf
shows:

[user name] on behalf of [user name]

Where user names are users on our Exchange server.

The other recipients only show from [user name].

I have double check all settings for the other accounts and can not see
anything different. Help!

Thanks,

D

Check the permissions for these accounts again. The users not showing "on
behalf of" have Send As permission.

Verify that the other users don't have Send As permissions as well. When
Send On Behalf and Send As permissions are given to a user the Send As
permissions wins.

We are using NT4 and Exchange 5.5

I checked the permission tab for individual mailboxes in Exchange and turned
off "send as".

Still no luck. Is there an aditional step?

Try waiting a little while for that permission change to propagate.

I made the change in the evening and tried it today but still nothing?

Strange thing is when I check the individual e-mail account that send on
behalf is working, the send as is still checked?

Any other suggestions?

I've never had a problem getting it to stick. Maybe remove both Send On
Behalf Of and Save As. Wait a little while and test to make sure they're
gone. Then add Send As.

Dumb question, but you did add Send As permission on the correct mailbox,
right? IF you want A to be able to send as B, then you need to modify the
permissions on B's mailbox, not A's.

I have done the following:

Removed send on behalf for the e-mail account that is being shared

Removed send as from the accounts that will be reading the shared mailbox

Question: if I am using send on behalf do I still need to check the send as
permission? If I just want send on behalf working, all I should add is the
users for send on behalf correct?

I am doing this on the Exchange end, not through Outlook.

Thanks,

No, you only need to set Send On Behalf Of. When both are set Send As always
wins.

Send As permissions can only be set through Exchange settings. Send On
Behalf Of can be set through both Outlook and Exchange. You'll find that
these permissions will "replicate" to oneanother.

This is what I have done now:

Removed send as on the users mailbox from the Exchange side that will be
replying to the shared mailbox

On the shared mailbox in Outlook I added the send on behalf

From my understanding with the instructions this should do it correct?
