Send Link by E-Mail does not append signature (OL2k7)

I've been searching for ages and can't find an answer... in IE when I go to
File--Send--Link by E-Mail (which I do dozens of times each day), a new
Outlook message comes up but it does not include my signature. I have Word
set as my e-mail editor and both boxes (New and Forwards/Replies) checked in
the signature options. I know I can go to Insert--Signature but I'd prefer
that the signature auto-append if at all possible.

Further exploration reveals that the same thing happens when I try to send
files from Word or any other Office program. A new message is generated but
no signature is appended. Is there a fix for this? I'm not afraid of some
registry work or a little VBasic/scripting if that's what it takes. This is
really annoying!
