send and receive error message

I'm setting up Outlook on my new computer. When I hit
send and receive it gives me an 'operation failed'
message. The knowledge center article on the topic says
to set up a profile in mail setup. The 'outlook' profile
is already set up with my email address info. Can anyone
help with another idea before I try reinstalling
Outlook? I have four other PC's that did not have this
problem when set up exactly the same way.
 
Which version of Outlook are you using and if OL2000 or sooner; which mode
have you installed Outlook in? Also, are you able to receive messages?
 
All of you who had this problem, the real solution is to delete your Outlook profile at C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
Delete all files, reopen Outlook and wait for the miracle :)
