Semi-transparency problem

Whenever I try to make an object or text box semi-transparent, what shows
through isn't the text on the slide or anything else on the slide. It shows
through a green color: i.e. more transparency = more green. I want to shape a
photo with a semi-transparent box to put readable text on the top. The
auto-shape just turns green the more the transparency is increased. Less
transparency increases whatever defaut color I have selected. Help!

I sometimes see unwanted green in videos, but never saw it with photos.
Install a new graphic card driver, if available; uninstall all DVD software.
And, please, tell us the PowerPoint version you are using.

Sounds like you only have a 24-bit video card (probably on-board).
AFAIK transparency needs a video card with a transparency channel
i.e. 32-bit capable. So I'd agree with Ute - you need a better video card.
