object transparency

I am now working with a new version of powerpoint. When I opened my file created from the previous version, I noticed that my autoshapes were no longer set to the transparency number indicated on the previous version. The only thing that I see in the new version is a semi-transparent box. Is there a way in the more recent version to set a transparency to a certain number? Any help is appreciated!

It depends on what version you have and what type of objects you are
referring to. Could you give us that information so that you'll get a good
answer?

Check Help, About Microsoft PowerPoint to get the exact version numbers in
each case.

But from your description, it sounds to me as though you've gone from a newer
version to an older one, not the other way 'round.

PowerPoint 2002 (XP) and 2003 let you set the percentage you want for
transparency. Earlier versions only give you the Semi-Transparent Off/On
option.

Yeah it looks like I am now working with 2000 and not the 2002 in which the presentation was created on. Do you know if there is any other way in the earlier version to make an autoshape more or less transparent? Thanks for you hel

Try this on for size:

Adam's Transparency Tutorial (Alpha channels and more)

Bear in mind that the effects look nice on screen but don't print well.
Then again, they don't in later versions of PPT either.
