Cannot adjust gradient transparency in table

Hi,

I have some slide-shows that I am formatting for work, and for a few
presentations, I cannot adjust the transparency on gradient fills in
tables . The "semi-transparent" option isn't selectable, and the
transparency sliders on the "fill effects" page are greyed out.

I know it can be done, because I have done so on other presentations.

Can anyone pont me in the right direction?

There are two ways to access table formatting options. If you right click
and go to "borders and fills" the table dialog box opens. This does not
offer all of the fill effect options. Instead open the tables and border
tool bar, select the table or cell(s), then from the paint bucket go to Fill
Effects.
