I am receiving self-extracting cabinet errors when I try
to load critical updates for Windows XP. Then I found
that I can't install some programs because the self-
extracting won't work on them either (mainly games). No
viruses, no spyware, no bugs I can find. Running a
Pentium IV with over 1meg of RAM, 50 gigs of free hard
drive space and until recently, a cleanly working system.
The message is "Self Extracting Cabinet has encountered a
problem and needs to close". When I click on the info
link I get
AppName: windowsxp-kb828035-X86-enu.exe
AppVer: 5.3.23.4
ModName: nview.dll
ModVer: 6.13.10.3082
Offset: 00009d6f
Is this a windows problem? I've never installed self-
extracting software so I assume it's part of WinXP. Plus
I should at least be able to install MS critical updates
right?
Can anyone help? Am I in the right place?
Thanks!
