Selectively, automatically populating default calendar from shared calendar

In Outlook 2003 I would like to be able to automate
aspects of managing appts between a shared calendar and
an individual's calendar. For example if 10 people use a
shared calendar, I would like to be able to define a
category for each of the individuals in the shared
calendar and then have any shared calendar item with
the "individual-1" category automatically populate
individual-1's private calendar.

I don't see any documentation about using rules with
calendar items, much less across shared and private
calendars. Am I incorrect?

Is there any way to use macros to do this?

As a last resort, can the VB Editor be used? If so, is
the script likely to be complex for someone whose
programming experience is limited to pretty basic
JavaScript or VBScript?

Yes, this is something that can be handled programmatically, but it's not a
simple task, since you have to deal not just with new items but also with
changes to existing items. YOu might want to look at the other tools listed
at http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/sync.htm that might be able to do
something similar.
