I need to deselect an item in the startup menu - how do I
get to it? I went into administrative tools, computer
management, startup, but it won't let me delete a startup
item there.

Thanks in advance for your help.

It depends what starts the item. If it is in the startup group, you have to
remove it. If it is started in the registry key listed, you have to remove
the registry key.

I went to Start | Settings | Control Panel | Administrator Tools | Computer Management.

I see nothing that says "Startup." Are you saying you have that there and it doesn't work or you didn't see it there?

Windows 2000?
