selecting used styles

Altought I am using the Spanish versión of Office 2003, I think all versions
are alike.

My problem is that I cannot select all instances of a used style. A right
click on the style in the "Styles and format" panel, just shows it as grayed
saying that this style is not actually used in this document, when it is used
indeed.

I can't find an obvious cause for this. Is it a malfunction in word, or am I
missing a rare setting option?

In Tools | Options, Edit tab, check the "Keep track of formatting"
option, and then click OK.
