selecting default e-mail account for sending

B

Brent

Since I have installed Outlook 2003, I have had trouble
sending messages.

I have a Comcast account and a Yahoo pop account.
Comcast is my ISP, so I set Comcast as my default e-mail
account.

Outlook 2003 gives me an error message that it cannot
send mail through Yahoo. When I delete the Yahoo
account, my mail sends without a problem.

I know that I cannot send through Yahoo since they are
not my ISP, but is there another switch (besides Comcast
being my "default" account) that would route mail through
Comcast instead of Yahoo?

thanks, brent

Hi Brent...

You might want to look into a program called "YahooPOPS". I'm not 100% sure
that it'll run under O2003, but I think it will. It allows you to send and
receive email from a Yahoo account and you never have to go to yahoo again
(YaHOOOOOOOO!) ;-)

In my very limited experience, NO ISP will allow you to send email through
their server which has a non -ISP return email address on it--that helps to
keep out the spam.

Regards,

Henry

EarthLink will not allow you to use other SMTP servers, so it is one of at
least several that will accept mail from logged on users regardless of the
email address the message is sent from.

I'm not familiar with Comcast policies, but as long as they don't force you
to use their SMTP server (as EarthLink does), yahoo should accept mail if
you either check for new mail within ten minutes before sending a messages
or configure outlook to authenticate before sending.
