When selecting an email link within an email normally a new mail will open
addressed to that link. In this case when you select the email link a
software package opens.
I have tried the same link from the same email on other machines and it
works fine??

Is this an option to make within Outlook?

Outlook 2002.

Which software package? Might it be somehow selected as your default
Internet email program?

You have messed up your "URL:MailTo Protocol" format type somehow. Fix it
by opening Windows Explorer, clicking Tools>Folder Options, choosing the
FIle TYpes tab, and scrolling down to URL:MailTo Protocol. Select it and
click Advanced. Select the "open" action and click Edit. IN the
"Application used to perform action" field, enter the following:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Officexx\Outlook.exe" -c IPM.Note /m "%1"

where "xx" reflects your Outlook version. Check the "Use DDE" box and enter
"OUTLOOK" in the Application field. The Topic field says "System" on my PC.
Click OK, then OK, then OK.
