Selecting All Instances of a Style

In Word 2003, I have a document open and also am showing the Styles &
Formatting Task Pane. The button for "Select All" is grayed out. How do I
get that feature to work so that I can replace all instances of one style
with another? Thanks,

Hi Ross

Tools > Options > Edit. Tick "Keep Track of Formatting".

Another way (and possibly a quicker way) to find all instances of one
style and replace it with another is to use Edit > Replace. Leave both
the Find what and Replace with boxes empty. Click More. Click in Find
What. Format > Style and choose your style. Click in Replace with.
Format > Style and choose your replacement style. Click Replace All.

Hope this helps.

Use the Find & Replace feature on the Edit menu...

1. On the Edit menu, click Replace.
2. Make sure your cursor is in the Find What box, click
More, then click Format, and then click Styles.
3. Select the style that needs replacing, and then click
OK.
4. Place your cursor in the Replace with box, click
Format, and then click Styles.
5. Select the style that you want the style replaced with,
and then click Ok.
6. Click Find Next and Replace till all are replaced. I
don't suggest Replace All... just in case.
