Hello I created a word template. This is an agreement form and the first
sentence will always e different . It will have some verbage to includce
either
new agreement or renew agreement or agreement expired .
I tried a drop down box but the sentence is to long. Is there a way that I
can select the sentence to go in the first paragraph depending on the
agreement type? thank you

You should probably be using a userform rather than formfields in a
protected document, which I suspect is the case.

See the article "Making groups of Check Box Form Fields mutually exclusive
(so that they behave like radio buttons)" at:

http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/ExclusiveFmFldChbxs.htm

Then you can use the Change event of a combobox that you put on the userform
to insert the necessary wording into the document.

You might try an AutoTextList field; you'll need to give the AutoText
entries short but recognizable names. See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/AutoTextList.htm
