paragraph marks at the end of each sentence

I've read EllyEm, CyberTaz, and Newbie's remarks about sentences that end
with a paragraph mark on each line. CyberTaz had a good link, but it didn't
help. I'm with Newbie on this, the AutoCorrect doesn't automatically correct
this for me. I have 2007 Word and the options don't list anything along the
lines of fixing it. If I go to find and replace it replaces all the
paragraph marks, not just the ones I want gone. How do I fix AutoCorrect to
erase those paragraph marks at the end of each sentence? Please help, it's a
long document!

Hi Sherry,

AFAIK, the techniques you're referring to aren't AutoCorrect, but Find/Replace. For them to work, you need to have a pair of
paragraph marks separating each true paragraph. Once you've got that organised you can use:
..Find/Replace with
^p^p as the find text
~~ as the replace text
..Find/Replace with
^p as the find text
a single space as the replace text
..Find/Replace with
~~ as the find text
^p as the replace text

Cheers

Well, for one thing, what the article recommends is AutoFormat, not
AutoCorrect, and that is only one recommendation (and I believe it's clearly
stated that it doesn't always work). Failing that, you use Find and Replace,
but you do have to do something first to distinguish the true paragraphs. In
text pasted from the Web or email, this is often already done for you:
there's often a line break at the end of each line and two line breaks at
the end of each true paragraph. The replacement then becomes simple: ^p for
^l^l and then nothing (or space, as needed) for ^l. If your situation is not
this simple, then you have to manually signal the true paragraph breaks
before replacing. All of this is detailed in the article at
http://word.mvps.org:80/FAQs/Formatting/CleanWebText.htm

You may have to do it manually - you can't expect a program to automate
everything, particularly fixing a mess that only a real blockhead would
create in the first place.
