Seeking Microsoft or Offtheshelf tool to scan for software

Does anyone know of a simple tool that will scan a machine and list all
software and drivers installed along with their specific version number
and filename and likewise compare or point out differences in that
report between successive runs, e.g. rather than trying to prevent any
change from occurring, another way to meet some of these regulations
may be to simply detect and report any unacceptable or unauthorized
change to the systems configuration.

I am aware of SMS 2003 (and use it in network environments) but I'm
seeking more of a standalone tool that could do the above task.

i use very old version of aida audit, from times it was freeware.
lightweight, so i have it in login script. outputs either csvs for excel or
html.
if you cant find it, ask me.
