Security

I am getting frustrated trying to set up security for a database. I tried to
set up security to one database. It is set up for any database I try to
enter. I set up myself as the administrator and another employee as a user
with limited access. We have to enter our password on any database we try to
open and the other user has unlimited access to any item (tables, queries,
etc.).

The other user needs to be able to set up her own databases. The way it is
now, everytime she opens up Access, she must enter a password and is entered
as a user. If I try to adjust her permissions, she will be unable to use her
own databases.

At this point, I would like to delete the security completely, but I'm not
sure how to go about this without blocking us both out totally.

After that, I want to get more information on how to set up the security
properly. Is there anyone who can offer me any help?

First and foremost, do not make any changes other than to copies.

I suspect part of the problem may be nothing more than icon you are
stating the database with. Depending on how you start it, it can open the
workgroup file even if you are not opening a secured database. In any case:

I suggest you start by reading
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];207793

Access security is a great feature, but it is, by nature a complex product
with a very steep learning curve. Properly used it offers very safe
versatile protection and control. However a simple mistake can easily lock
you out of your database, which might require the paid services of a
professional to help you get back in.

Practice on some copies to make sure you know what you are doing.

Don't know if you're aware of the fact that there is a security section where
you might get your subject addressed although there are very capable people
on this section also.

Thank you for the link. I did try to set this up on a practice database,
however, for some reason unknown to be it posted the security on all of
Access! I printed out the information from the link you sent. Hopefully,
I'll find some answers there! Thanks again!

When you log into a secured database, you open the Workgroup file first.
I suspect that is what you are seeing, however your description does not
seem to exactly fit. Exactly how are you opening the database?

Try opening Access without any database as if it was the first time
ever. Try looking for MSACCESS.EXE and double click on it. Access should
start It may be in the office10 directory.
