After connecting a comcast cable modem, my pc with
windows XP restarts itself a few minutes after I select
shutdown. I have unselected hibernate and it still
continues to restart. The only way I can stop it is to
turn off the power strip each time I stop using the pc.
 
Check the BIOS settings for Wake on LAN. See your computer's manual for instructions on accessing the BIOS setup.
