Security Wizard Error

Hi,

I'm running Access 2000 9.0.6929 SP-3 on XP Pro SP-2

I've created a backup folder that contains a database for which I'm wanting
to set up Security - just in case I lock myself out.

The Security Wizard comes up and leads me through the process and appears to
be working up until I click the "Finish" button. Then I get this Error:

"Error ‘An unexpected error occurred while creating the workgroup file.’:
The wizard can’t complete successfully."

This particular Data Base has some linked Tables in it - could this be
causing the Error?

Thanks,
Larry

You shouldn't use the security wizard in 2000, as it is flawed. Follow the
detailed steps at

I've looked at both of your papers. I can't get pass step one of the
"Access 97/2000 Security Step by Step" procedure because XP dosen't have an
"wrkgadm.exe file in the default location. However, I did find it located in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\1033. Should I run it from that
location?

Try looking under "Security" in the Access Tools menu.

Maybe I'm a bit confused. If you are running Access XP, you should be
following the steps in Access 2002/2003 Security Step by Step. The
workgroup administrator is part of Access (Tools, Security menu).

But your original message said you were running Access 2000? Which is it?

If you are using Access 2000, then yes run wrkgadm.exe whereever you find
it.
