Security update KB886903 dotnet framework

Somehow original update hung pc while waiting for ok of firewall
internet access. Rebooted with reset button. Was able to remove and
then reinstall ok but now can't apply update says were unable to be
successfully installed. Log shows nothing. Any ideas would be
appreciated. Thanks.

I originally posted this on dotnet framework then security newsgroup
with no response.

Updater keeps wanting to update even though framework was since
uninstalled. Had to disable automatic update and notification shield.
