Security Update for Microsoft .Net Framework

Security Update for Microsoft .Net Framework Version 1.1 Service Pack
(KB928366)
Win XP Home edition on Advent Laptop

Despite various attempts, I have been unable to install the above Security
Update.
The answers given by Googling don't work for one reason or another.
According to the "Add / Remove Program" list, I have the following
installed:
Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1
Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0
Security Update for 2.0 (928365)

1. Do I need Vers 1.1 still or can I remove it?

2. I have decided to give up on the KB928366, but how do I stop Update from
reminding me that it has not been installed. I have got Auto Update set to
"Notify me but don't download" At the moment, I just untick the box next to
928366 everytime, but I would like to be able to ignore it permanently.

Any help please?

Actually, the problem is the annoying reminder only. If you have .net
framework 2.0 installed the correct update was kb928365 . You do not need to
install kb928366 at all; you would need it if you did not have .net
framework 2.0 installed along with kb928365 . You need to somehow reset Auto
Windows Update to stop annoying you with notifications.

Many thanks,

It is the "annoying reminder" bit that I am trying to resolve.

Go to Windows Updates again. When it shows you the KB928365 or KB928366
for updating, click the small + sign in front of it. On the bottom of that
window
is a box to check "Do not show me this Update Again", and check it. You'll
not
see this Update again.
