Hello Experts,

I run Windows 2000 SP4 and recently I have an auto reboot a few minutes
after startup or coming out of hibernation. The Event Viewer shows:

"Source: Windows Update Agent
Category: Installation
Event 19: Installation Successful: Windows successfully installed the
following update: Security Update, Feb 13, 2002 (MSXML 4.0)"

The next event 22:
"Restart Required: To complete the installation."

Then it restarts.

From Regedt32:
In HKLM/Software/Classes there is an entry
Msxml <No Name> REG_SZ:Msxml
Under Software/Microsoft it has many entries e.g. BackupFileName, file size,
path, registry REG_SZ:n, Component version: REG_SZ:2.60.6526.3,
InstallINFFile and InstallINFSection.

I did a search up and down for 2.60.6526.3 and that was the only location.

My question is, is this registry entry related to the 2002 update or is it
the entry for all updates? My WINNT is loaded with update entries.

I found discussion online where it suggested deleting certain files in Win2k
but that did nothing at all.

My computer date shows May 2006.

I visited MShaft and they know nothing about it. Why should they?
After all Windows is perfect isn't it? :-(

Help appreciated.

Thanks

RF

I'll assume you have MS's Auto Update feature enabled.

It's an update for XML and has nothing to do with all updates. Do you
know what XML is? I suggest you use Google and look it up.

You should just leave it alone

You know nothing about XML and you should not be concerned with it. If
MS put out a security patch for XML, then it was needed.
Help appreciated.

I suggest that you leave it alone and go on about your business of using
the computer using Win 2K.

If you want to get into some security on the Win 2K O/S, then here you go.
