Hi all,

I am using WinXP pro, all patched up.

How can I set the security/sharing sections for folders to advanced mode? I
cant edit any share permissions or folder security?

I am used to win2k where I can edit all settings for folders, not forced to
a 'basic' mode.

Also, in control panel - Users, I'm stuck in 'basic' mode. I cant edit the
users nicely, I have to stick to XP's basic options.

Any help is much appreciated!!!

Open Explorer, click the Tools menu, select Folder
Options.
Click the View tab, scroll to the bottom, uncheck the box
for Use Simple File Sharing.

Edit the users nicely...if I understand what you mean,
you want the Computer Management snap-in (compmgmt.msc or
available from Control Panel->Administrative Tools).
This has a local users and groups area.
