Is Win98SE PC secure when connected through a WinXP Professional PC via
a UTP cable? WinXP Pc has Windows Firewall and is fully patched up
automatically. It also has Symantec Anti-virus software and this too is
uptodate.

The Win98SE PC has IE6 fully updated and has free version of Grisoft.
It does not have any firewall because MS hasn't released any for this.

The connection is always via the WinXP PC which has direct connection to
broadband via USB port.

Thank you.

Hi,

Yes, the Windows Firewall adds a layer of protection through ICS, there is
no need to add an additional one to the Win98 system (which has never had
and never will have an included firewall).

Neither the computers running Windows are secure, windows is full of
holes. Although it may be HARDER for an attacker (shouldnt an attacker
want to et nto your computer) to get to the win98 compuer, it would
most definitly not be imposible.
