security prompt to show files

Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
Version: 5.00.2195 Service Pack 4

When I click on the desktop shortcut to C:\Program Files
I seem to remember a security prompt to show files
This does not happen now.

Any ideas or suggestions please.
 
Explorer|Tools|Folder Options|View, check the box for "Hide protected
operating system files".

RE... check the box for "Hide protected operating system files".
This was already checked.
The prompt I remember was to Show files...that is, all the folders in
C:\Program Files ( same as the prompt for C:\WINNT ) which comes up when I first
attempt to open this directory.

Not a big issue.

I think if you've chosen Classic View then the prompt will not appear
