security patches

when i download and run the security patch kits i get
a message saying that this is not a valid win32
application. now what do i do? i pretty much need
these patches.

Where did you "download" the security patchs? You should ONLY being using
Windows Update.

i'll try the update...i did an update when i bought this
notebook so maybe i'm all set?

downloaded the patches. any clue on what to do?

It is ok to download from the TechNet site. Many people download security
patchs from emails they recieve, which are virus'. Try Windows Update and
see if you still get the same errors.

chris,

one more thing if ya got time. I went to reinstall and
the same error (invalid win32...) appeared. found the
file in my folders and tried to re-install it. Upon that
the message report says i have a newer version already on
the computer. Basically, how can i find out if the xp
is patched? thanks for your help,

If you check in the Control Panel>>Add/Remove Programs it should list all
the updates that you have installed.

Try posting your problem in the Windows Update Newsgroup too.
