Security patches and updates

Hello everyone,

I have some questions on the Security updates by Microsoft for XPE. It seems
that the latest update (Oct 05) is for the development machine. Will
applying these updates cause any problems for current images I am building
before and after the updates? As in, will the same slx files still work,?

If I would like to apply security updates and hot fixes to run-time XPE
images for users, do I download the patches for XP SP2? I didn't see a
separate link for XPE.

Thanks very much!

You will be able to build images using the old versions of components by
opening the .slx files for them and choosing not to upgrade those
components. In new builds, you will only be able to use the new versions.
To update existing clients, I believe the accepted way is to use Device
Update Agent.

Thanks! So just to confirm:
1) If I update the build machine, I don't have to do anything special,
except maybe upgrade my existing configurations. Hopefully, nothing bad
happens to them ><

2) If I need to update deployed images, then I need to use DUA or desktop
installer to install the QFE.

Am I correct?

I am rather afraid to update my build machine now, as we are nearing the
finalization of the project. Was initially thinking of updating the images
before I reseal them, but the update of deployed images look very complicated.
