Hello,
It is me again. I have had my computor for about 1 year.I
shut it down the other day & it locked up and froze the
alert said "Brooke needs to enter the password to that
the computor was set up with to get in". Why did this
happen. I left it alone for awhile ( I do not know the
password- my husband did not write it down)and it came
back on. Whats the deal? Thank You!

Is that the exact text of the error message? Because if it is, you've
probably been hacked. MS error messages may sometimes be obscure, but
they are written with correct English grammar. If you have XP Home,
enter Safe Mode (tapping F8 while the computer is starting will get you
to the correct menu) and log in as Administrator. The default password
is blank. Once in, you can go to Control Panel>User Accounts and change
the password for your regular account to something you will remember.
Or write it down. If you find your computer has in fact been
compromised, then the best thing to do is format the drive, clean
install Windows, reinstall programs from cd's, and restore data from
backups.
