** Security Issue While Linking Excel or Word to Access Database **

Hello --

I have recently implemented security on a networked Access database (system.
mdw is in the same network location). The security at a user level seems to
be working fine.

However, now that the security has been implemented, I am unable to link
Excel and Word documents to the database. We leverage many Excel pivot table
reports that are linked to Access via the GET EXTERNAL DATA function in Excel.

In Excel, why I attempt to refresh the Pivot Table for the report linked to
Access, the Access login screen comes up but does not accept the username and
password. It is much like attempting to open the database directly without
using the Shortcut that specifies where the MDW file is. All I can suspect
is that the login does not know to look for the MDW file??

Everything else with the security works great, just cannot link Excel and
Word files. Any thoughts?

Thanks so much,
Adam

Hi Adam,

My solution would be to push the data from Access to Excel instead of trying
to get Excel to pull it from Access.

Keith.
